A mysterious Yavly waterfall

The program of Yavly waterfall exploration has been put into the tourism development plan of Tuy phong district for the coming years. We had a journey to this mysterious waterfall on one day of October. It took us more than 3 hours to get from the center of Phan Dung mountainous commune to Yavly waterfall through the rough road, thick forests, 11 large and small streams.

We went by motorbikes only in the first 14 kilometers and went on foot in the last 3 kilometers of road with forests and uneven stones. We only stood far from the waterfall, but we could hear the sound of water cascading impetuously that made us be eager to see it. When we got close to the waterfall, the forest was almost covered by the fog made by its water. Seeing Yavly waterfall directly with our own eyes, we discovered that it was very spectacular and miraculous. Yavly is located deeply on a gorge of Ta Hoang mountain in the protective forest of Phan Dung. Yavly’s top created by an intersection of two small steams so it is also called Thac Cap. There is always a lot of water drops pouring down the wide area on both rainy and dry seasons, so the local people called it Thac Bay. The waterfall is estimated 200 meters tall compared with its foot and more than 1,500 meter tall  above the sea level.

When we saw Yavly waterfall at the first time, all of us thought as if the waterfall had been a graceful young girl in the mountain and forest of Ta Hoang. The flying drops of water looked like covering the space with the sparkling dew. With such a beauty, if Yavly waterfall is exploited early, it will become an interesting destination for Tuy Phong tourism.
